More About Me
I’m Kevin and I am the proud Headteacher at Esteem Valley Academy where I have the privilege of working alongside our absolutely wonderful staff team, supporting our amazing students.
My career in education started at a Mainstream Sports College in Derby where I began as a teaching assistant before qualifying as a PE Teacher. I left mainstream to become head of PE in a special school and have a variety of experience in middle and senior leader roles at Special, SEMH & Alternative Provision settings. In the 10 years prior to being appointed at EVA I worked in 2 outstanding schools in London & Nottingham as Deputy Headteacher, Acting Head of School and most recently Senior Vice Principal.
Outside of school I have a young family including 2 mischievous but lovely miniature sausage dogs (Elvis & Burt). I absolutely love being a Dad and all the activities that go with it such as going to the park (at every given opportunity!!!), trampolining and swimming, but going out for dinner and trying new food’s together is our favourite family activity.
I am a massive football fan and love getting to games as much as I can, but my playing days are sadly over. I do like to keep myself fit by running and cycling as well as my latest sporting addiction, Padel. I enjoy a fitness challenge, recently taking part in HYROX London at the ExCel arena. I have climbed Kilimanjaro, cycled from London to Paris and completed Ride London (100 mile course). I am currently contemplating my next challenge (potentially another Hyrox in a more exotic location) as I like to have something to work towards to focus my training and keep me consistent.

More About Me
I am an experienced educator with a passion for empowering students to achieve their full potential. With 16 years of teaching experience in English, Media, and Film Studies, I have also held roles as Head of Year, Literacy Coordinator, and Raising Standards Lead. I endeavour to support students’ progress and help them to grow as people, believing that becoming a better person by the end of your academic journey is as important as the grades you obtain.
In addition to my role at Esteem Valley Academy, I am Difference Leader, collaborating with AP leaders nationwide to enhance teaching practices and educational policies, driving positive change and elevating standards for students across the country.
Before embarking on my teaching journey, I developed my communication skills as a journalist, contributing to esteemed media outlets such as ITV and Sky Sports, covering a diverse variety of sporting events. As a hockey player I captained Derby Men’s Hockey Club, developing leadership skills within a team environment and represented the East Midlands and England youth hockey teams.
Outside of the classroom and sports arena, I am a family man and avid supporter of Derby County, spending weekends cheering on the Rams at Pride Park Stadium. I have a passion for cinema and gaming, with a particular fondness for the iconic film, “The Dark Knight.”

More About Me
Hi, my name’s Emma.  I have been a teacher for a very long time (not going to say how long as it will make me feel old)  I love my job and everyday is different and I have had the privilege of working with some wonderful young people.
Outside of school, going on holiday is my favourite thing to do, I love the sun, so summer holidays are a must from me.
I spend most of the winter snuggled under my blanket binge-watching Netflix, which is another favourite pastime of mine.
I’m usually at my happiest with my family around me and most of all my dog Eddie, who never gets annoyed with me and is always happy to see me.

More About Me
Outside of Esteem Valley, it’s my own time for fun,
I spend my time exploring when the day is done.
To restaurants, I fly, flavours to explore,
Each meal is a delight and I keep asking for more.
In waters deep, I make a splash and a leap,
Swimming like a fish, it’s my favourite treat.
On fields or courts, with my mates, I play,
Sport’s where I shine, in my own special way.
To the theatre’s stage, I happily race,
Where stories come alive, in every case.
And Spanish I learn, with each word so fine,
Where their magic enchants my curious mind.
Outside of adventures, there’s more I adore,
With my cat Dora, I’m never bored.
And snowboarding down slopes, oh what a delight,
In Grace’s world, each moment shines bright!

More About Me
My name is Imani Lockhart-Davis. I have worked in alternative provisions for six years now, firstly based in Nottingham City Centre and now at Esteem Valley Academy, at our Bennerley site in Ilkeston. I absolutely love working with young people and I was previously the co-founder of a community-based organisation where we supported hard to reach young people, giving them a voice in areas such as advocacy in education, politics and policing and have a great interest in inclusivity and equity.
Outside of work I enjoy fitness, socialising and film. I thoroughly enjoy my time  working with young people with various life challenges and see myself doing it for the long haul!

More About Me

I’m Connor Bartle. Sports have been a huge part of my life since I was young. I’ve played multiple sports at various levels, and currently, I’m proud to compete in the Southern Premier League in football, which is at step 6 in the pyramid. One of my most memorable moments was playing in the First Round of the FA Cup – a dream come true for any footballer.

Initially, I pursued a degree in Primary Teaching, but my passion for sports education led me to transition to teaching at the secondary level. Now, as the Head of Centre at our KS4 Sawley site, I also have the privilege of teaching BTEC Sport.
My journey into alternative provision education began through football, where I had my first experience working with learners in such environments. I was immediately hooked, eager to share my own experiences and personality to help them realise their potential. I firmly believe that regardless of past educational setbacks, there are no limits to what these learners can achieve. I’m committed to breaking down barriers and showing them that their past doesn’t define their future, both in education and in life.
With my background in sports and teaching, I strive to inspire and support my students, empowering them to reach their goals and pursue their passions. It’s incredibly rewarding to see them grow and succeed, both academically and personally.

More About Me
I’m Stevie but in the studio, I go by S.G Savage, I’m driven by a passion for music and hands-on education. With a degree in Music Technology and Broadcast Media, I’ve dedicated myself to merging technology with musical experiences.
My journey led me to Esteem Valley Academy, where I have spearheaded the launch of music technology, blending engagement and studio experience to create a dynamic learning environment. Music is my passion and guiding students to experience real-world opportunities within the music industry, opening their minds to the variety of career paths the industry has to offer has been my greatest achievement.

I firmly believe in the power of music to unite and inspire. Whether teaching in the classroom or exploring the world, I strive to empower others with practical skills and a love for music, fostering connections that transcend borders.

More About Me
I have recently joined Esteem Valley Academy Sawley site as part of the Engagement team. I have previously had a career in Interior Design but decided in 2023 that I wanted to completely change career and embark on something I’m is truly passionate about.
My main interests are music and going to watch live music. Since I’ve been at Sawley, I have shown a keen interest in the Music curriculum. I accompany some of the students to The Elementz Studio every week, where the students get to produce their own tracks-  I even sang on one of their songs!
Another passion of mine is acting, I train with The Actors Workshop Nottingham every week and do castings for TV, Film, adverts and campaigns where possible.
Being out in nature is my favourite thing, going for walks and runs is something that really helps my own mental health. Generally being active makes me happy, whether that’s playing sport or doing my weekly zumba class. Wellbeing is key in my pastoral approach with the students. I am a big believer in finding the right tools to manage mental and emotional health.
I also do a lot of work with a Bristol based charity Nacoa (National Association of Children of Alcoholics) and will get involved in fundraising where possible.
I recently completed a 21 mile walk in the Peak District to raise vital donations, as Nacoa rely soley on donations and fund raising, due to the government cutting funding.

More About Me
The only thing more fun than maths, is watching the penny drop and the enthusiasm build in our students. They are excellent, inquisitive minds who break the mould and surprise and inspire me every day. There is a lot to be said for the people who don’t follow the crowd, strike out their own path and push limits. Esteem Valley Academy is full of those people. In the staff as well as obviously the students. Which is why I’m super lucky to be here.
I qualified as a secondary maths teacher in 2010 and have worked in various roles, both teaching and leadership, since then. After taking a brief detour into corporate audit, I’ve dived back in headfirst at Esteem Valley Academy and I’m loving it.
In my spare time, I love spending time with my husband, two children and our dog (Albus Brian Dumbledore). I love music and play the guitar and piano. I often get the highest of praise (an eye roll) from our students for my unique original maths songs! They may be annoying, but they’ll make the maths stick.
